Loop Coin & Jewelry

A family-run Mobile coin and jewelry shop with documented 1963 roots and a Government Boulevard storefront.

Coins among Mobile family keepsakes

Loop Coin & Jewelry brings rare gold and silver coins, bullion, estate jewelry and sterling silver into one Mobile business. Its published services include buying, selling and collection appraisals, so a visit can begin with either a collecting question or a group of pieces you want identified.

Decide which question matters most before you arrive. For an inherited group, keep the original envelopes and labels with each coin and make a simple inventory. Separate a request for identification from a request for an offer, so the discussion has a clear purpose.

From Williams Street to Government Boulevard

The family’s account dates Frank Smeraglia Sr.’s opening on Williams Street to 1963. It records a move to the Skyland Shopping Center on Government Boulevard in 1987. These are two different milestones: the business origin and the move to its present location, rather than one date for both.

Build a comparison around a series

The shop describes a US coin focus and names Morgan and Peace dollars, Mercury dimes, proof sets and mint sets among its interests. These categories are useful starting points, not confirmation of a particular coin being available.

Choose a series you recognize and bring a short date-and-mint list. When comparing silver dollars, ask to see the surfaces under the same light and discuss wear, marks and any cleaning. Record the grade description and the exact coin being quoted instead of comparing two prices without their context.

Allow time for the collection

Find the shop at 3972 Government Boulevard and call 251-661-2800 for current arrangements. The operator publishes storefront visiting information and offers appraisal appointments. Arrange that conversation in advance when bringing a collection rather than assuming a full appraisal will fit into an ordinary browsing visit.

Take a short list

Three questions for the counter

  1. Should I book an appraisal for the size and type of collection I am bringing?
  2. Which dates and grades in my chosen series can I compare in person?
  3. Can the written offer distinguish individually valued coins from bullion or group lots?
