Know the business
The useful overview.
The Royal Australian Mint is a non-corporate Commonwealth entity in Australia’s Treasury portfolio. It opened in Canberra in 1965 before the 1966 decimal-currency changeover. Its federal role distinguishes it from Western Australia’s Gold Corporation, which trades as The Perth Mint.[1][8]
The Mint’s collector catalog includes proof and frosted uncirculated finishes. Its July 2026 Kangaroo announcement documents silver and gold Mob of Six Roos issues. The separate investment range contains gold and silver coins sold through its telephone service and authorized distributors.[2][3]
High-demand collector releases can use the EQL ballot system. Those purchases have their own entry and payment rules, and the warranty policy excludes ballot releases from discretionary change-of-mind refunds. Product class and sales channel matter as much as the Mint’s name.[6][5]
