The Perth Mint

The Perth Mint is Western Australia’s government-owned mint and refiner, with separate terms for bullion, collector coins and other retail products.

Relationship & editorial notes

This is a dated editorial reference. Product availability, destination eligibility and purchase terms should be checked for the exact order.

Know the business

The useful overview.

The Perth Mint is the trading identity of Gold Corporation, a Western Australian government statutory authority. Its terms name the operator and ABN; the Australian Business Register separately identifies Gold Corporation as a state government entity and lists The Perth Mint as a business name.[5][2]

The business combines refining, coin and bar manufacture, retail and precious-metal storage. Its current bullion families include Kangaroo, Koala, Kookaburra and Lunar designs. Collector editions and jewelry sit alongside those bullion lines.[1][3][4]

Perth is distinct from the Commonwealth’s Royal Australian Mint in Canberra. Its own delivery table separates bullion from collector purchases, and the two categories have different return terms. A dealer’s stock and contract must also be checked separately from the Mint’s direct shop.[1][7][5][6][10]

What to explore.

Catalog families identify areas to explore. No current franchise license, individual item availability, government-backed investment return or universal quality score is asserted. Storage products require their own contracts.[3][4][1]

Check the details

Before you buy.

Read the current item and checkout terms. These notes summarize dated company policies, not a promise about your order. Applicable consumer rights still matter.

US bullion delivery is not on the published list

The bullion shipping table lists 12 overseas destinations and excludes the United States. This restriction does not establish whether a collector item can ship to the US. The collector FAQ directs buyers to the country selector; US collector distributors are listed separately.[7][8][9]

Collector returns are discretionary

For eligible online or telephone purchases, a change-of-mind request must be made within 30 days of purchase and approved before return. Items must remain unused with original packaging; the customer pays return costs. Loose collector diamonds, special jewelled coins and in-store purchases are excluded from the stated refund guarantee. Non-excludable consumer rights remain.[5]

Bullion does not have a change-of-mind return

The bullion contract describes orders as final and non-returnable, subject to its express exceptions and non-excludable legal rights. The collector return policy does not apply. Written non-delivery or transit-loss claims are requested within 14 days of recorded dispatch, subject to a longer period required by Australian Consumer Law.[6]

Check freight and cover for the actual product

Non-bullion standard shipping is published at AUD 10 domestically or AUD 35 internationally, with free eligible standard shipping above AUD 300. Bullion is excluded from that offer. Shipment coverage for lower-value bullion orders is optional and charged separately.[7]

A buyback does not preserve the collector premium

The FAQ describes in-person buying of eligible coins through the bullion trading room, subject to conditions and current metal bids. It also says the Mint does not provide numismatic valuations.[8]
